Started several years ago, our 4th of July "Shoe Box Float Parade" has become an annual part of the Independence Day celebration at the Chapel! The idea is simple ... decorate a shoe box (any size) to look like a parade float! Floats do not need wheels, a tongue or a tow vehicle -- just the decorated shoe box simulating a hay rack or flatbed trailer.
Shoe box floats may be the work of one individual or that of a club, group or organization. Entries are displayed in age categories of "Youth" (ages 8-18 years) and "Adult" (ages 19+). This offers a great opportunity to have fun and be creative! All visitors to the exhibit on July 4th have the chance to cast a vote for their favorite float entry in each age category based on originality, theme and workmanship.
