Yorkville Public Library 2nd Annual "Tablescape Fundraiser" April 2025
Finding inspiration in a beautifully embroidered 1920s wedding dress and veil from our Mullin Bridal Collection at the Chapel on the Green, this year our creative team chose the book, “The Great Gatsby,” to celebrate the 1920s theme for our Tablescape entry at the Yorkville Public Library’s second annual fundraising event.Borrowing from the opulence of the “Art Deco” period, our table featured china and serving pieces, glassware, flatware, and accessories of that era and style, as well as an elegant color theme of black and gold. As always, our decorators foraged through their own homes, attics, local resale shops, and the internet to find meaningful items to add to the vignette.A beautiful copy of the novel was purchased, and an antique typewriter held a sheet of paper displaying a quote from Scott Fitzgerald’s book, “The Great Gatsby.” An authentic Art Deco frame featured another memorable quote from the author, and an artificial cake captured the popular style of cake decorating from that time.
Yorkville Public Library "Tablescape Fundraiser" April 2024
The Chapel on the Green Historical Society, NFP participated in a first-time “Tablescape” fundraising event at the Yorkville Public Library on Saturday, April 6, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.Twelve volunteer “decorators” (or organizations) from the community each designed a “tablescape” display based on one of twelve different seasonal themes, and each table benefitted a designated community organization or charity when attendees voted for that particular table as their “favorite!” Each charity/organization received $5 per vote (and the Library will also receive $5).
The twelve resulting “tablescapes” were fun, creative, and inspirational! The Chapel on the Green decorators (April Morganegg, Sharon Lowy, and Susan Kritzberg) were honored thatthe Chapel’s Table No. 6 was the top “vote-getter” with the theme “Get Them to The Church On Time!” Benefitting the Chapel on the Green, their table vignette featured vintage china, silver, and glassware, this beautiful Edwardian Era wedding dress (early 1900’s), and several bridal accessories selected from the Chapel Wedding Museum’s amazing historical collection!
